Great Turn Out for New Melle Easter Egg Hunt

The 26th Annual New Melle Easter Egg Hunt on April 3rd was a rousing success! Approximately 250 kids attended, and over 60 people did the adult hunt (raising over $600 for Cystic Fibrosis.)

The New Melle Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who helped with or supported the event, including New Melle Sports and Recreation for providing the location; Ages and Stages Learning Center for providing the bags; the New Melle Fire Department for providing drinks; the City of New Melle for providing the cookies; Samantha Brague who dressed up as the Easter Bunny; Janet Hespen, Red Tree Church, the New Melle Queen Candidates and volunteers from Peoples Savings Bank for setting up the fields; Gerry and Sharon Wolf for managing the special prize eggs and tables, and Boy Scout Troop 856 for stuffing 6000+ eggs. Thanks also to Blondin Professional Real Estate and Overstock Outlet for providing kids activities.

This was the 26th year that the New Melle Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the hunt. Over $1000 in prizes were purchased with money collected from area businesses and residents. Three bicycles were awarded, one donated by Peoples Savings Bank and two by Catala Facial Retreat and Spa.

The Cystic Fibrosis Adult Hunt was sponsored by Equity Prime Mortgage–Ryan and Julie Sanford, and Overstock Outlet–Rich and Lori West. Over 100 prizes were awarded and $620 was raised for CF.

The New Melle Chamber of Commerce appreciates everyone for their generous support. Thanks also to the many volunteers who helped make this event happen: stuffing eggs, stuffing bags, setting up, cleaning up, working the day of, shopping for prizes and more.

Chairperson, Maureen Blondin, said “Everyone pulls together every year to pull this off. It’s a great community event! Thank you!”
