At the New Melle Country Christmas event on November 27, over 125 bears and an impressive $880 in cash donations were donated by the community for “Teddy Bears for Trevor.”
The bears and money donated were in memory of Trevor Joerling, who lost his battle with lymphoma in 2014 at the age of 16. Trevor's family (parents Todd and Brandee Joerling and sister Darby) have made it an annual tradition to deliver bears to hospitalized children on Christmas morning.
Unfortunately, this year, they cannot volunteer and hand-deliver the bears in person because of COVID-19 restrictions. They delivered the 125 bears and the money collected to St. Louis Children's Hospital in early December. Since then, they have received another 200 donated teddy bears to deliver before Christmas.
The Joerling Family said they are blessed to live in such a generous community and appreciate everyone's support for this special cause.
