Whiskey Dixon, Contagious coming again to New Melle this June Festival Parade Theme announced as “Wild, Wild, West”

It’s that time of the year again to announce our annual festival here in our local community. The New Melle Festival is held each year and vendors from around the community, an all-star carnival company, bands from the area, children and adults of all ages come together. New Melle Sports and Recreation will sponsor the New Melle Festival on its grounds June 15th through 17th, 2017.

Our Lady’s Inn Seeks Help With Shower of Love


Shower of Love is a one day collection drive that benefits local agencies that serve women and babies. The drive is hosted by 17 area grocery stores on Thursday April 27th. Our Lady’s Inn is included as an agency that receives a portion of the items donated.

Election Results for New Melle

Nik Bradley ran unopposed to fill a 2-year term for Alderman Ward 1. He received 30 out of 30 votes cast. Janet Karrenbrock ran unopposed to fill a 2-year term for Alderman Ward 2. She received 18 out of 19 votes cast. There was one write in vote. No one ran for a 1-year term for Alderman in Ward 2. Three write in votes were cast. The Board of Aldermen can appoint someone to fill that seat, which is currently held by Gary Schneider. Schneider was appointed in January, 2017 after Doug Bice resigned due to job-related commitments.

Francis Howell School Board: The top three vote getters were Mary Lange - 5,274; Patrick Lane - 5,051; and Rene Cope - 4,704.
